Seller's Description
A well made mahogany sliding box camera of dove tailed construction with a label for J H Dalmeyer, Optician, London. Numbered 1532 on the mahogany slide and also on the body of the camera. J H Dallmeyer was working in London circa 1860 and I believe he was a pioneer in the field of early camera and lens manufacture. The brass lens focuses by means of a rack and screw principle. Looks to be in original unaltered condition but someone has applied a glue/mastic substance to the interior of the lens mount, presumably to make it light proof. Lacking lens cover. The lens hood diameter approx 2.1/4in. The camera body (exc.lens) is 9.1/4in long x 6in wide and 6.3/8in high. Please note -We do not reveal our reserve price or end sales early.... Buy this now!
